Spectacular Blazing Sunrise in Ponce de Leon Inlet

After over a week of waiting, the wind and seas finally shifted in our favor, and we were ready to sail on. The day Kent and I sailed north from Ponce de Leon Inlet, FL, we got up at 5:30 a.m. Getting an early start gave us time to have coffee, grab a little breakfast, and take Trooper to shore and back, without losing the best part of our day sail to St Augustine. We arose in the dark, before sun up, and watched the most spectacular sunrise we've ever seen.

Here are several pictures showing the progressive light, cloud formations, and searing colors. It's hard for me to believe that I took these photos all within about 15 minutes. I was glad we took time to savor the beauty of the sunrise. It was a great way to start our day. Off to St Augustine!
